A Conversation of Caring

Partnership of Caring and Compassion

Recently, we had the pleasure of speaking to Suzanne Sanchez one of the Community Liaisons with Hospice of the Valley. We came together to talk about how a partnership between Hospice of the Valley and Tru East Dignity HomeCare could better serve the community through the services both organizations provide. Throughout our conversation, I noticed it always led back to a common theme – Our Experiences. Experiences that shaped our outlook on care and compassion towards others. We all had life experiences that set us on the path to wanting to serve others through dignity of care and advocating for those who can’t speak for themselves. At Tru East Dignity HomeCare we don’t want to be known for being the biggest or the most profitable…trust, integrity and compassion are the words we want to be synonymously associated with the name Tru East Dignity HomeCare. We have all experienced a loved one who has been through a chronic illness or disease and understands that communication and trust are paramount in order to serve the client and their family. We both understand that the caring and support doesn’t end when a loved one has come to the end of their journey but continues on in support of the family and friends that are dealing with their grief.

As the meeting wound down, I knew that we wanted to be a part of this long-standing organization that was founded by Rev. Q. Gerald Roseberry with 2 volunteer nurses, Mary-Audrey Mellor and Blanche Hopkins Wenge, with the mission of providing Comfort and Dignity as life nears its end. On Hospice of the Valley’s website, the term ‘Legacy of Caring’ is stated prominently but it is more than just words. Their Legacy of Caring is visible in the millions of lives they have touched in their 40+ years of service to the community, by offering care and support that not only nurture the mental and physical well-beings of individuals and their families but their spirit as well. However, Hospice of the Valley has evolved and expanded upon its original mission by providing innovative and supportive programs such as their 24/7 Nurse Line that is actually staffed so you won’t get an answering service and inpatient facilities that provide a place to receive respite and management of short-term symptoms to just name a few.

We encourage you to learn more about Hospice of the Valley and the services they provide by visiting their website at hov.org or calling anytime at 602-530-6900.
